Heritage College is proud to offer the Crisis Prevention Institute’s (CPI) Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Training. This internationally-recognized course equips students with the skills needed to de-escalate hostile or dangerous situations effectively. Our NVCI training is ideal for professionals in high-risk fields such as social work, addiction counseling, law enforcement, security services, healthcare, and education, as well as anyone who faces challenging interactions at work.
What You Will Learn
Our Verbal Deescalation Training module, part of the CPI Blue Card certification, includes comprehensive training on:
- Identifying crisis development and behaviors
- Intervening during crisis moments to facilitate de-escalation
- Effective verbal and non-verbal communication during crises
- Applying verbal de-escalation techniques
- Setting limits and boundaries
- Practicing professional distancing

Certification and Benefits
This certification is valid for 2 years from the training date.
Your CPI Blue Card and the CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training Participant Workbook will be mailed to the address you provide to Heritage College.
Mode of Delivery
NVCI Training is 100% Online via Zoom by a CPI-certified trainer. This module covers the Verbal Deescalation Training portion of the CPI Blue Card.
Please note: Heritage College does not offer online registrations for the physical holds portion of NVCI Training due to the online nature of this class. Students interested may email info@heritage-college.ca to inquire about holds training dates and times.
