Behavioral Health and Safety Certificate
Behavioral Health and Safety Certificate Program Summary
The Behavioral Health and Safety Certificate is a comprehensive training program designed for professionals who work in environments where behavioral challenges, mental health concerns, and crisis situations may arise. Combining in-depth theoretical knowledge with practical intervention strategies, this certificate equips learners with the skills and confidence needed to support individuals safely, respectfully, and effectively across a wide range of settings.
This program integrates two key components:
1. Integrative Behavioral Health Certificate
Learners gain a foundational understanding of modern approaches to behavioral and mental health, exploring how evidence-based integrative therapies can complement traditional treatment models. Emphasizing the connection between mind, body, and spirit, this course addresses a broad range of topics including anxiety disorders, depression, chronic pain, sleep disorders, substance use, aging-related concerns, bipolar disorders in youth, Alzheimer’s disease, and suicide prevention. Participants will learn to describe various mental health conditions and understand holistic, alternative, and integrative methods used to support and treat them.
2. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) Training
Delivered by a licensed CPI instructor, this interactive and internationally recognized training focuses on verbal de-escalation strategies essential for frontline and high-risk environments. Students learn how to manage, defuse, and safely respond to hostile or escalating situations using nonviolent, person-centered techniques. Please note that due to CPI regulations, individualized training sessions are not available; however, group sessions for organizations and workplaces can be arranged through our application process.
By completing the Behavioral Health and Safety Certificate, learners will be able to:
- Recognize and describe key mental health disorders.
- Understand and apply integrative, holistic, and evidence-based therapeutic concepts.
- Use effective nonviolent de-escalation strategies to ensure safety for both staff and clients.
- Navigate behavioral challenges with professionalism, empathy, and confidence.
This certificate prepares individuals to promote safer, more compassionate environments while supporting the well-being of the people they serve.
