Diabetes Mellitus Type 2, or type 2 diabetes, is one of the more common forms of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, a problem with insulin prevents a body’s cells from using sugar (glucose) in food.

Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong disorder that prevents one’s body from getting energy from food. Most cases of type 1 diabetes start in children 12 to 13 years old.

February is Heart Month. Heart disease affects more than 2.4 million Canadian adults and is the second most common cause of death in Canada. And heart disease often begins with high blood pressure.
